Ruben Amorim raises only major concern for Man Utd for Hong Kong match, he’s already putting lot of ‘attention’ on it

Ruben Amorim has insisted that Manchester United must “try to do things in the right way” around one potential area of concern for the match against Hong Kong.

Manchester United have been on a post-season tour of Asia this week, only days after the Red Devils signed off their 2024-25 Premier League season.

Ruben Amorim’s men hosted Unai Emery’s side at Old Trafford on the final day of the league season and United defeated 10-man Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League.

Following United’s Premier League win over Aston Villa last Sunday, the Red Devils travelled to Malaysia for the start of their post-season tour in Asia.

The Red Devils were in action in a friendly on Wednesday and United were beaten 1-0 by ASEAN All-Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

United were chasing the match against ASEAN All-Stars after Maung Maung Lwin broke the deadlock – and found the eventual winner – in the second half of the tie.

Ruben Amorim wants to avoid one thing from Man Utd’s post-season tour encounter with the Hong Kong national team

Manchester United’s post-season tour of Asia concludes on Friday afternoon with their friendly match against the Hong Kong national team.

The Red Devils will travel to the Hong Kong Stadium and kick-off for the tie between United and Hong Kong is scheduled for 1pm UK time.

Ruben Amorim appeared at his pre-match press conference on Thursday and the United manager was asked for his feelings on the pitch and the weather conditions.

The 40-year-old former Sporting CP boss admitted that his main concern is to “focus” on the match and ensure that United “protect” their players from injuries.

“I don’t think [there will be injuries due to the conditions],” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“I haven’t seen the pitch, we are going to pay attention to that, but we are ready to cope with any pitch.

“If we are professional and try to do things in the right way, focus on the game, it’s the best way to protect our players from any injuries.”

Ruben Amorim asked about booing in Malaysia after Man Utd’s 1-0 defeat to ASEAN All-Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium

Amorim poured cold water on some of the frosty reception that United players received after there was booing heard during his side’s defeat to ASEAN All-Stars.

When asked about the booing in Malaysia, he responded: “Let’s focus on all [of] the game.

“Every time a player for Manchester United touched the ball, especially in the beginning, the stadium went crazy.

“The environment was really good. We did our lap at the end and the fans were supporting our team, so I think it was more supportive than the opposite.”

United ended their disappointing 2024-25 Premier League campaign in 15th place, which is the Red Devils’ worst finish since the league’s inception back in 1992.
